Molybdenum is a naturally occurring chemical element. In its pure form, molybdenum is a silvery-grey metal. About 86% of molybdenum is used in alloys, and the rest is used in chemical applications.
Molybdenum’s properties:
- Very high melting point
- Can withstand extreme temperatures without significantly expanding or softening
- Low coefficient of thermal expansion
- High corrosion resistance
- High weldability
- In wires, tensile strength increases as diameter decreases
Latva Machine supplies components to the ultra-high vacuum industry including chambers, feedthroughs and valve components. Many parts require electropolished surfaces with finishes down to 10Ra to prevent contamination. These components also require precision machined sealing surfaces to prevent leakage.
